Let's cut right to the chase with this all new redesign Honda Civic Type R. Its set to hit the streets some time in the next few months with a price tag of $43,990 which is quite the significant jump from the beloved previous generations price of $38,910. As we know this Honda top of the line street performance vehicle, but where does it stack up against its competitors?

With horsepower and torque figures around 315hp and 310lb-ft its a bit difficult to find a direct competitor. For its price, the Toyota Supra, Nissan 400z and Volkswagen Golf R. However the Civic Type R can not compete with them with power figures. Taking a step down a bit, the limited Toyota GR Corolla Core and the hyundai Elantra N both cost around $38,000 but neither crack that 300hp mark.

So where does this car really fit in the sports car world? I believe this Honda Civic will have the best driving experience out of all the cars under $50,000. I also believe the track times out the box will rival real sports car. I would not be surprised if this car go touch 7:35 Nurburgring times. In a year or two went tuners get their hands on this car it be a beast. Possibly a rival for BMWs B58 motor featured in the Toyota Supra.
