The Looks are......
Let's start with this controversial styling. For whatever reason BMW has been very very.....very gun-ho on trying to improve their looks to some futuristic time that we are not in mixed with trying to stay relevant. They had some controversial designs for the new G-series M3 and M4 that received a load of backlash. In the simplest words "it just aint working". However.... this new M2 with its weird design and box shape, cute headlights and all looks pretty good to me. Yea thats right argue with your mother. With the aftermarket enhancements that will be available will make up the rest of the aggression need to make it show ready if need be. Besides how many cars look their best in stock form?None. This new redesign will rival its predecessor if not surpass it.
Performance
Now onto the fun stuff. I can only imagine whats this car will be like to drive. Everyone knows about its predecessor being the fun car to drive. All the same track from original 1-series and now the 2 series is the most fun BMW to drive. Truly rivaling track times of the Porsche GT4. Did I forget to mention this car features the S58 motor that is used in the M3/M4 and various other m cars? This car will quickly become one of the most fierce weapons to have on any track. Here it is tuned for 453 horsepower—about 48 hp more than the previous model and 9 hp more than the 2020 BMW M2 CS, and just 20 hp shy of the base M4 coupe. Max torque is 406 ft-lb and is available between 2,650 and 5,870 rpm. BMW claims the car will 60 in 4.1 seconds but I'm not buying it. The car will surely be around the 3.3-3.6 second range, BMW usually likes to downplay their numbers.
Conclusion
In conclusion theres a lot that BMW and it design team have to workout why they are not on the same page. However this design maybe the one to smooth things over. I can't wait to get a chance to be behind the wheel and see exactly how this car drives and see if it lives up to its predecessors With an S58 under the hood and manual option is definitely off to the right track.
